And so things begin to heat up in Episode 2…

First, more people die!!!!! It’s GOT. People will always die.
Melisandre allow us end the episode with a gasp, literally, after some faithless ones among us had given up. Poor Jon Snow. First his brothers stab him, and then his fans give up on him. O ye of little faith!!!

I must confess though, I was beginning to believe that no one was truly indispensable. Apparently, it appears some people are. Kudos, to Davos though. For a self-proclaimed faithless man he did exhibit quite some belief in Melisandre’s abilities, even when she didn’t.

Tyrion went a visiting – an act that might be considered foolhardy by many, but was necessary due to Daenerys’ waning power. If he is able to exert some control over her children, it could pave the way for her return to Meereen and eventually, King’s landing.
Ramsay Bolton should begin to concern us more. His brutality is probably only matched by his ambition, and eventually he will not be satisfied by the North alone. His antics are beginning to ‘hound’ me. Let’s see how far he will go.

And after an absence of over an entire season, Bran returns, and does nothing more than take a trip back in time. The trip was quite interesting though, and opens up yet another minor sub-plot.

Theon reveals his intention to return home, and Sansa plans to head for the wall, blissfully unaware of the death (and eventual life) of Jon. In a surprising development. Theon’s father Balon gets killed by his uncle who appears out of the stormy night, and suddenly the lordship of the Iron Islands is in the air, with Yara realizing that she might not be able to step into her Father’s shoes easily.

Silly Arya gets a second chance. We are not yet sure her sight will be restored but at least she will not be forced to beg again.

Finally Tommen gets to apologize to Cercei, and Jamie and the High Sparrow face off. It is becoming obvious that inaction on the part of Tommen cannot last much longer, and thing should come to a head soon.

This review is a bit long but I must confess that I thoroughly enjoyed Episode 2. We ate definitely out of the doldrums now, and can look forward to exciting events. There may even be a war! The thought of Jon and Ramsay facing off gives me goose bumps. I am not even concerned about those who will die. It’s GOT afterall! “What is dead may never die”.
