So this is what we call comedy these days? A movie where the great Robert De Niro is reduced to a foul mouthed horny grand pa? Tsk Tsk Tsk.
The movie is about Jason Kelly (Zack Effron) an uptight lawyer who is tricked by his recently widowered grandfather aptly named Dick (Robert De Niro) to take him on to take him to Daytona beach for some wild partying. Apparently, Dick’s intention is to set Kelly on the path of self-discovery while he tries to get laid. Obviously, the trip doesn’t go as planned and Kelly is in danger of ruining his wedding which is slated for a weeks’ time.
Maybe I have been numbed by one too many Dirty Grand Pa type movies but I actually did not find this one funny. The movie just seemed to go on and on on and on with basically no direction. It was a real struggle to stay awake through it. So bad was the thirst that they had to include irrelevant scenes of Zack Effron semi nude.
I will give Dirty Grand Pa 4.8/ 10 on my awesome-o-meter. It was one one atrocious attempt at comedy that left a bad taste in my mouth.
