Revue of The Boss
Initial Release Date; April 7, 2016
Genre: Attempt at Comedy
Directed By: Ben Falcone
Here we go with another failed attempt at comedy. Is it too much to ask for Hollywood to produce a comedy that is really worth watching?
The Boss is about a businesswoman called Michelle Darnell (Melissa McCarthy) who has stepped on too many toes in her rise to the top. She has made a few enemies especially Renault (Peter Dinklage) who rats her out for Insider Trading and gets her sent to jail. After her release, she has no home to go to and moves in with Claire (her former assistant) and her daughter. While staying with them she attempts to rebuild her business empire by …wait for it….selling brownies!!!!
This story line seems over used don’t you think? Including the twist of building a brownie empire seems rather far-fetched and doesn’t really help make this story even a tad bit interesting. After a while, I was begging for it to just stop. The attempt at being funny was beginning to look cheesy.
I will give The Boss 4.2/ 10 on my awesome-o-meter.
