Revue of Me Before You
Release Date: June 2, 2016
Genre: Drama/Romance
Directed By: Thea Sharrock
Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke) is a caregiver in between jobs and lands a juicy job taking care of the affluent Will Traynor (Sam Claflin) a wealthy banker who was involved in an unfortunate accident that paralyzes him. Lou’s eccentric outlook to life is stretched by the sarcastic Will and an unusual relationship results that leaves an impression on both of them.
I must admit that I have not read the book from which it was adapted but what I will say is that it schools Fifty Shades of Grey in the genre of “Unusual Romance”. I am sure those who have read the book will be screaming blue murder as to how the movie did not do justice to the book but from what I watched, the movie was pretty decent.
The plot of the movie isn’t novel (Pun Intended) neither was the conflict resolution but what I think will appeal to many romantics is the journey to the resolution. The lead characters had chemistry which reverberates with the audience and I did hear a few sniffs in the cinema. Other than Emilia and Sam’s acting, what stood out for me was the soundtrack. Songs by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Jessie Ware gave the movie a really nice feel. I think I might just go get the soundtrack album and give it a listen.
I won’t say it’s the best romantic movie that I have seen as there were times when I almost dozed off to due to lack of activity but I guess that was an attempt to build on the story. However, it was a real tear jerker and deserves 6.9/10 on my awesome-o-metre.

Hmmm. Good review. My wife is a greater fan of the romance genre than I am, but this interests me. Of course, I am also interested in seeing the Mother of Dragons in another role...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. I've been yearning to see this movie. I've made noise about it all around the house and I'd especially like to go see it with my aunt because she's a romantic at heart. It'd be a big treat for her, really. I have a soft copy of the book as well but I've been stalling on reading it just to avoid screaming blue murder too. Haha!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd definitely love to win a free movie ticket, please?
Thank you :)
Its being a while I had a movie like this to see. I can't wait....

ReplyDeleteWas seeing this at the cinema yesterday and someone actually screamed "una just dey waste tape" I think the story line was pretty intense but some of the scenes were really overstretched but definitely still a good movie and not one of those typical happy ending love stories so I like it, will love to see what the guys at Honest Trailers have to say about this one, look at a blue sky, ohh another leave falling
