Revue of Warcraft

Initial Release Date:  May 25, 2016
Genre: Fantasy
Directed By: Duncan Jones

The movie is about the Orcs led by an evil sorcerer called Gul'dan (which rhymes with Gulder) who has magically opened a portal from their dying home to the human settlement of Azeroth where he and the hordes want to colonize.  Naturally, the the humans would have non of this and the human King; Llane (Dominic Cooper) and a warrior Lothar (Travis Fimmel) along with the powerful wizard Medivh make some unlikely alliances to fight the marauding Orcs and save their land.

Okay, let me be straight with you guys, I know this may sound shallow but all I wanted to see in Warcraft was the battle between the humans and the colossal Orcs. I mean, the trailer had whet my appetite for some serious axe wielding mayhem. So was I satisfied? Maybe not completely, I am not saying the battle wasn’t enough, but there could have been more.

One thing that worked for this movie was its visuals and CGI which were absolutely spectacular. Although sometimes their perspective seemed off because one moment the Orcs looked humongous next to the humans and sometimes not as much.

Errr, I wonder if the Orcs have dental insurance, because those teeth though…..

By the way, while I watching this movie, I kept  expecting to see Shang Tsung (from Mortal Kombat) saying “Your Soul Is Mine”. Don’t worry, when you see the movie, you will know why.

The conflict resolution wasn’t exactly what I expected because there seemed to be a lot of unexplained loose ends. However, I think they have laid the platform for a great sequel. The foundation is strong enough for a great story to be built upon.

Although I have never played the game, I think Warcraft was a great cinematic and visual experience and I did enjoy it (maybe not as much as I thought I would) but it earns 6.9/10 on my awesome-o-meter.

I have to say, I am really humbled by the messages I get on Twitter and on Facebook I didn’t know I had such loyal fans who read my blog. Thank you so much! Don’t worry, I am cooking something fun to reward you guys. Just stay tuned.
