Revue of CELL
Initial Release Date: July 8, 2016
Genre: Weak Horror/Thriller
Directed By: Tod Williams
An adaptation of the Stephen King book, this movie is about a strange cellphone signal that has transformed all cell phones user into Zombies aka Phoners. Clay ( John Cusack ) a graphic novel artist is at the airport when the epidemic starts and along with a group of “survivors” including Tom (Samuel L . Jackson) is desperate to get home to his wife and son.
When I saw the trailer of this movie that it starred Cusack and L. Jackson, I thought we will have another 1408 on our hands… I was wrong, the movie was as dead as the Zombies it was about.
The movie was supposed to be a horror/thriller but I was neither horrified nor thrilled, if I was horrified, it was as to how horrific the movie was. The zombies were not spectacular neither were the cast. Everyone seemed to be walking around in a trance.
Maybe L. Jackson and Cusack are going through a low period in their career, but I don’t think they should have reduced themselves to this level because they are beginning to look like Nicholas Cage. LOL.
I am not one to ruin a movie in its entirety but danm, this was one serious fluff of a movie. CELL earns 4.2/10 on my awesome-o-meter and is hereby relegated to a section of my library called “Rubbish movie done by good actors”.
Come back again pretty please…
The Maveriq

Just watched it. It was rubbish. Flat and void of excitement. Ended well tho. Small reward for 90minutes of torture
ReplyDeleteWas angry at myself for wasting precious time watching the movie.
